Editing

I've been hard at editing this short film guys! Nearly done, just need to add the voiceover. We've finally cut our footage down to 5 minutes by compromising scenes that weren't necessary. It was hard to cut away at things you consider your art but it had to be done. The team are very reliant on me with the editing as I am the only one who has experience using Final Cut Pro. Fingers Crossed we can get the voiceover done tomorrow and get this video UP ON YOUTUBE

Feedback From Vanessa

We received some harsh feedback today from our teacher whilst editing. We have 10 minutes worth of footage edited, this is 100% over the maximum time limit of 5 minutes. WHAT SHORT FILM IS 5 MINUTES? Michael Jackson has music videos longer than that. But rules are rules and we have to start being harsh with our editing, which means having to cut out bits that we love and trim bits that outstay their welcome. Also we need more non diegetic sound to keep the audience interested. I strongly disagree with adding more non-diegetic sound to the film as we already have suspenseful music which acts as our films theme, 2 clips from pop songs, a snippet from Eastenders' theme song, an eerie track, a voice over on the way... I just don't see room for any more music. Do you?

Lost Clips...

We filmed over the weekend... we got good shots...we were happy! As Kyler and I go through the footage the technicians uploaded from the cameras, we don't find OUR BEST SHOTS... all the others remain, except the 2 best scenes. The technician reckons the files became corrupt and couldn't be uploaded. I'm not buying it, it just so happens that two of our best scenes cannot be uploaded but the rest are fine. something tells me Mr Technician did something wrong... I am frustrated and a little annoyed that I have to take time out of my life (because media is apparently the only subject I do) to redo scenes I've already done. It has to be done, but I don't have to be happy about it!

STOP FRAME ANIMATION

I had to wear lipstick today!!! - Not very happy about that!
So I had to do the stop frame animation today, ALONE, to introduce Karma as a force not to be reckoned with. Stop frame animation is basically loads of pictures played back to make things look like they're moving.  I made it seem like Karma (The omnipresent force) was writing a message on the mirror. To portray the cheeky, medelling force, after the message is written in lipstick, she (because apparently Karma is a woman) leaves a kiss on the mirror. You have to love the audacity we give Karma.

2 PLACES AT ONCE..

It's hard being a main character and the director/cameraman at the same time, but I did it! Today I was abandoned by a 'BUSY' group (I'll get them back!!) I had crucial scenes to film, the conclusion of the film. Basically, I had to set up the camera, walk into position, perform the action, hold my ending position, then turn the camera off. This is going to be very tedious when editing  The end result is a lot of static shots as there was no one to move the camera around. This shouldn't be a problem though as I have a wide range of shots and angles to play about with when editing. In hindsight, I could have used some POV shots to get some dynamic shots in, I'm sure I got at least one POV shot though.

 

I think today proves that you can be '2 PLACES AT ONCE..' 

That Went Well...

We got some crucial scenes done and dusted today. An incredible weight was lifted from our shoulders today as we got tricky scenes done and they look COMPELLING!! On paper, our film looks plausible, doable for experts, but not to amateur film makers. Today just shows you that media really allows us to test our creativity. Everyone has imagination but not everyone can put their imagination into practice. Who knew we could make a glass of milk and a ghost disappear into thin air using a camera? Although we got some of the trickier scenes done, we have a dilemma. I am alone tomorrow with a camera and many scenes to do with. How can I be both behind and in front of the camera!!!???

Filming!!! (Spooky)

It's the weekend! Nothing shows enthusiasm and initiative like doing schoolwork on the weekend! So today we're filming those creepy scenes where a ghostly figure watches me as I sleep, I am hit with breakfast dejavu, I am possessed and I appear from thin air and scare my beloved girlfriend!!! How spooky, it's going to be interesting seeing how we execute these suspenseful scenes and scenes of horror! Will we be able to do it... Yeeeeeah!!!

Learning To Use Prezi!!!

-_- So we've started our Advanced Portfolios and we're using a new, foreign, tedious, annoying software known as Prezi.com!!! But lo and behold... I have to use new forms of media to get that grade. So here I am still trying to master an online presentation program. I shouldn't complain though, it's always good and helpful to learn new ways to do things.

Narration to My Name Is Karma

Once upon a time, there was a boy who had it all. His name was Brad! He’s a bit of a TWAT! Consumed with image- but damn is he hot! *clears throat* he is rather ugly on the inside. He gets good grades…but for all the wrong reasons. Talent he’s got it. The girl he’s got it…’her’ I said!! But when you have it all…you have attention and maybe the attention of a not so friendly ghost!

This ghost is bent on destroying the lives of those who destroy the lives of others. He feeds on fear and he won’t stop until your life is completely F’ed up! Well only if you’re a TWAT like Brad!

So he messes up Brad’s life a bit, he’s very persistent and he doesn’t stop. He trips him up, he plays mind games and completely mentally breaks him down until one night while Brad is fast asleep…he possess him!

(Ending Line) I know what you’re thinking! This isn’t a very nice ghost…The real question you should be asking yourselves however, is if you had the power wouldn’t you do it as well?
